|In February 2007, legislation was introduced that would
open the way for commercial cultivation of industrial hemp in the United
States (H.R. 1009; in the 109th Congress, H.R. 3037). The Industrial Hemp
Farming Act of 2007 would amend Section 102 of the Controlled Substances
Act (21 U.S.C. 802(16)) to specify that the term "marijuana" does not include
industrial hemp.
Q: What is Industrial Hemp?
A: Industrial Hemp is a number of varieties of Cannabis
sativa L. that are intended for agricultural and industrial purposes. They
are grown for their seed and fiber content as well as the resulting byproducts
such as oil, seed cake, hurds, etc. Industrial Hemp is characterized by
being low in THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol) and high in CBD (cannabidiol).
THC is less than 1% and in Canada and Europe the current legal level for
cultivation is 0.3%. The ratio of CBD to THC is greater than one.

of commercial products, it would create an industrial challenge/ Entrepreneurs
have not been educated on the product potential of Hemp. Industry executives
have conspired to spread misinformation about an extremely versatile plant
that, if used properly, could challenge their companies. Where did the
word 'marijuana' come from? In the mid 1930s, the M-word was created to
